Can you hear it? Surely you can hear it! Listen closely….this all sounds very familiar. Celebration, the pageantry, dancing in the streets, rejoicing, sounds of symbols, tears of joy, loud cheers of glee shouting “Victory! Victory! Victory!”

Absalom did it.

Adonijah did it.

Haman did it.

Simon Magus did it.

Sodom & Gomorrah did it.

Hell & The Grave did it.

Adonijah— King David’s fourth son, considered himself the heir-apparent to the throne and self appointed King of Israel. He set up a cabinet of officials while his ailing Father was alive. Meanwhile his celebration was both premature and illegitimate. His desire for power at any cost, caused him his life.

Absalom— King David’s third son, held deep within his heart a desire to be King (President) of Israel while his Father King David was still alive. What he would say publicly is, “If only I were the judge of the land! Then all who had a suit or cause might come to me, and I would give them justice.” He was a great favorite of his father, and of the people. His charming manners, personal beauty, insinuating ways, love of pomp, and royal pretensions, captivated the hearts of the people from the beginning but sadly his insatiable desire for power caused him his life.

Haman— the Vice President of his day, he was never satisfied with being second in command in King Ahasuerus’ administration. He secretly plotted a coup and never thought two random men would overhear his plot or coup. His selfish plans were found out and sadly his insatiable desire for power caused him his life.

Simon Magus— known as “Simon the Sorcerer” was a religious figure who was willing to pay-for-position or pay-for-play and influence in the church. His selfish desire to garner a “gift” that can only be given by the Lord cost him greatly. He was ultimately accursed.

Sodom & Gomorrah citizens danced, celebrated and projected victory in their city streets. They thought the Lord had ignored all of their blatant abominable acts until…. the Lord came down personally to witness the uncleanliness, filth, corruption, deception, and abominations that were the norm. Then the unthinkable happened. Total annihilation of an entire people group, city, generations gone all because of unrepentant hearts.

Hell & The Grave celebrated with principalities, powers, ruling evil spirits for three days. They celebrated prematurely the “victory” because Jesus’ body laid in a tomb….until Jesus made a show of them OPENLY and His victory was certified in the Courts of Heaven!

Just wait….isn’t that what Jesus told his disciples even while Lazarus laid dead in a tomb? Just wait…. there is a larger plan in motion and the minds of mere mortals cannot fathom that great move just yet.

Have you ever felt as if God knows you have a need—knows that you have a deadline—and yet purposefully waits? So what does one do when it seems God is waiting. Where is God when you need Him? Why isn’t God answering your prayers? And why is it the answers He has given, seem not to be the answer you wanted or needed? Have you ever needed God’s guidance or His provision, and prayed for it, and sought after it, and waited for it, but there was no answer?

The Bible says, that God knows what we need before we ask—and God certainly knows when we need it. In Scripture, God’s timing is always perfect—although sometimes rather dramatic. It was only when Israel was trapped between the Red Sea and the crush of Pharaoh’s army, that God came through. God didn’t deliver Daniel from the Lions’ den, or Shadrach, Meschech, and Abednego from the fiery furnace. He chose not to deliver them from their trials, but in their trials. The Bible teaches the very clear truth that God wants to bless, but sometimes God waits to bless.

Why does God wait? Consider two different versions of Isaiah 30:18.

“And therefore will the LORD wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the LORD is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him.”  Isaiah 30:18 (KJV)

“Therefore the Lord longs to be gracious to you, and therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you. For the Lord is a God of justice; How blessed are all those who long for Him.”  Isaiah 30:18 (NASB)

God’s timing is always perfect. What we truly need, God will provide at the time He sees fit for us to receive it. God’s gifts are not ours to command. We can request His blessing—but it is His decision if, and when we will receive it. What are some possible reasons for the waiting of God?

1. The Waiting of God May Reflect a Period of Spiritual Discipline Imposed on your Life.

5. The Waiting of the Lord unveils and reveals what otherwise would not be without the wait.

If there is a delay in His answer—that delay is for your good. It may reflect a need in your own life deeper than you know—a need to repent of some sin. It may reflect God’s own desire for you to come further still into His presence. It may reflect His desire to give you His perfect guidance which can only come when you come to the backside of you own wilderness—and find, as did Moses, a divine appointment waiting with your God and friend.

As for me, I have a perfect peace within me knowing that the Lord’s words will not return to Him void. Unfortunately, the level of exposure is still coming on unprecedented levels while the pre-mature celebration is currently here. While some are grieving others are dancing with glee in the streets. Watch and know that the Lord and His will always prevails.
